In the advanced culture of the planet Venus, a search is under way for a source of manpower to meet daily needs. Venusians, sated with a millennium of struggle, effort and growth, want to lead lives of comtemplation, freed of all other activity. But who will do the daily work? As an experiment, they plan to uproot the residents of six-block area in a wealthy California suburb. If these people survive, Venusians will then transplant the remainter of Earth’s inhabitants their planet, and make earth-dwellers their slaves. Caught up in this experiment are Dr. Simon Holm.
