Many witness described seeing a an object roughly 60 feet in diameter hover over the water near the fishing village of Shag Harbour. Eye witness accounts state that the object had four lights which blinked in sequence. The object made a “whistling noise” as it descending rapidly towards the waters surface.

Those who seen the crash into the water believed that they had witnessed a tragic airplane crash and reported the event to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.  RCMP Constable Ron Pound was already in the vicinity and had seen the UFO crash in to water. He along with others reported that they saw a  yellow light floating offshore in the water and that the object left a foamy yellow wake as it moved.

Local Coast Guard Cutter #101 and several fishing boats searched for the UFO but they arrived to the area too late. The object had reportedly sunk before they could get to the crash site. They searched until 3:00 am but would find nothing other than the yellow foam that was left behind.

No agencies reported any missing craft of any kind that day. The Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax and NORAD  both reported that there were no missing aircraft, either civilian or military.
